Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil

The Prince of Wales plans to participate in the United Nations climate conference in South America during November, according to the royal household.

The father and son duo made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a reception preceding the climate summit, which is planned for in the Amazonian city of Belém.

The King and Prince were in attendance at the museum gathering, marking an noteworthy combined presence at a environmental conference preliminary meeting co-hosted by the UK government.

Climate Leadership Commitment

King Charles has been a long-time champion of environmental conservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own climate innovation awards, which will be taking place in South America preceding the COP summit.

Royal sources have characterized the Prince's participation at the upcoming climate summit as stepping up an important role in "climate diplomacy".

Recent Engagements

The King and Prince of Wales, arriving together in the official car, were introduced to attendees such as environmentalists, researchers, environmental activists, foreign representatives and government officials.

This engagement included speaking together with President Emmanuel Macron of the French Republic and other global statesmen at the Ocean Finance Summit in Monaco in recent months.

Environmental Prize Link

The UN meeting will coincide with the the royal's Earthshot environmental awards, which will conclude in the Brazilian city the day before he joins the climate conference on 6 November.

Recently the prince described the Earthshot finalists as "modern-day pioneers".

Royal Climate Legacy

The monarch has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".

"I have spent a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the survival risks challenging our world over planetary heating, environmental shifts and species extinction," the monarch informed delegates.
